The Forgotten Fallen
by James Langton
We are delighted to announce that the hardback edition of The Forgotten Fallen is back in stock.

James Langton's long-awaited 'The Forgotten Fallen' was launched on Friday 29 November, 2019 in Cathal Brugha Barracks before a huge attendance. The book was launched by Cmmdnt. Daniel Ayiotis, Officer in Charge of the Military Archives, who made an excellent speech in which he touched on the difficulties of recording and commenting on the Irish Civil War and seeing past the actions of both sides to the core truths of the time. You can read this speech in full here and buy the book here or in Alan Hanna's Bookshop, Rathmines., Charlie Burne's in Galway,  or, for our oversees readers Kenny's of Galway for  FREE international deliveries to anywhere in the world.

To date, we have not been notified of any omissions or errors - surely great praise for the diligent and excellent work of the author in a work of this magnitude?
We have received some additional information on one casualty which we will be adding to a future, revised, edition, and all added information will be published on this website.
Below are some of the comments we have received on the book. initials only are given for the reviewers, as these are unsolicited reviews, but is obvious already that this is fast becoming
an essential book for anyone with an interest in the Irish Civil War.
The latest issue of An Cosantóir Magazine (February 2020) is now in the shops and once again it is an excellent magazine.

This is the best value magazine on the market, and we are delighted that James Langton's "The Forgotten Fallen" features on three full pages in it.

There is a full page on the launch of the book and two pages of an article by James Langton on the book and the background to it.

There are also the results of our competition to win a copy of James' acclaimed book.

The cover feature is about the European Battlegroup 202 and inside there is plenty of news, book reviews and articles.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
Recently I had the pleasure of attending James Langton's book launch for Forgotten Fallen. Having attended Maynooth University on the same course as James, to witness him produce such a marvellous publication was a very proud and emotional occasion for all concerned.

The publication is testimony to his relentless dedication to the field of Irish historiography. In its impressive and fine detail, it will no doubt prove to be the most useful and essential reference point for academics and the general reading audience. Perhaps, the greatest compliment I can pay is to say the next editions are eagerly anticipated, no pressure intended James! - DM

James, your wonderful book arrived in the post today from Kilmainham Tales. Couldn’t take my nose out of it all evening. I’ll be consulting it (and the next two books) for years to come.

Congrats again James on a
wonderful addition to our histography of the revolutionary generation. You should be very proud of yourself.

I know my grandfather would be delighted with it - in agitating for the establishment of The National Day of Commemoration he was always conscious of our abandonment of “The Forgottten Fallen” - BC

It is a real achievement. I look forward to the next two books. I am sure the book will attract quite a few reviews. It is always heart in the mouth stuff when you put your work into the public domain and anyone can say anything about it. In your case you don't have to worry as the reviews should be all positive. Well done and I hope you get the rewards that your book so richly deserves. -  RB

Absolute brilliant book.

My father, a Congo veteran of 1962 (37th Batt), saw the pic of the Niemba commemoration. He was there that day.
He’s adoring the book.

Thanks for giving Ireland this gift. - CO'R

It's Interesting to see names and sometimes faces on those who died. Details of the individuals, etc.

At this remove, the Civil War was something that happened an odd century ago with many atrocities on both sides sides.

We know the names of some of the heroes on both sides. Now we know the details of the rank and file. Now we know who they are on the Treaty side. Ordinary people and some extraordinary people.

Well done James Langton - BO'N
